if i find in myself...

...desires nothing in this world can satisfy, i can only conclude that i was not made for here.

Have you ever wondered why goodbyes are so hard?

I'm not much of a crier. I can watch the saddest, sappiest, most depressing movie known to man and never shed a tear. Some might call it heartless. I call it being able to acknowledge the fact that these are not real people, they are in fact fictional characters pretending to be real (but that's neither here nor there). Anyways the reason that I bring this up is because there are only 2 things that are a surefire way to break my heart: goodbyes and death(which is basically a goodbye). Goodbyes are hard for us because we were not created to experience separation. Before the fall, Adam and Eve were supposed to enjoy eternal companionship with each other. God told them that if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that they would surely die(gen 2:17). I wonder if Adam and Eve had any inclination of what death was? Death was introduced into the world through sin. Spiritual death (which comes through sin) separates us from God and physical death separates us from eachother. We were not meant for it. But because of sin, we now have to live with all that comes with it. Things like goodbyes. But there is consolation. As a child of God, I have hope, a hope of another world. A time is coming when we will live eternally with Jesus in a restored heaven. An existence with no pain, no suffering, no hunger, no wars, no orphans, no earthquakes, no break-ups, no cancer, no funerals, no goodbyes.

And so we wait. And not like the rest of the world who has no real hope. But we eagerly wait with child-like expectancy for what's to come.

In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are. Meanwhile, creation is confused, but not because it want to be confused. God made it this way in the hope that it creation would be set free from decay and would share in the glorious freedom of his children. We know that all creation is still groaning and is in pain, like a woman about to give birth.
The Spirit makes us sure about what we will be in the future. But now we groan silently, while we wait for God to show that we are his children. This means that our bodies will also be set free. Romans 8:19-23

What things make you anxious for heaven?
